According to a request made to the Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam by the professional union of Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service and other various associations, last date for receiving applications to recruit to the class iii of Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service has been extended until 28 March 2016. Although it had been arranged to accept the applications from 01st of January 2016 till 01st of February, this extension has been declared on the approval of the Public Service Commission.
The number of occasions sitting for the Education Administrative Service examination will not be considered that was enforced following the provisions of earlier service minutes and according to the new service minute, it is possible to sit three times for the limited competitive examination and twice for the open competitive examination. The age limit also has been revised on the request of the Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam. Accordingly the age limit for the open competitive examination has been increased from 30 years to 32 years and the age limit for the limited competitive examination has been increased from 50 years to 52 years. The age limit for recruiting on the merit and seniority has been increased from 55 years to 58 years. According to these changes a large number of young people who obtained their degrees recently from the universities, a large number in teachers’ service and the principals in grade one in the principals’ service until the age of 58 years will be able to sit for this examination.
The professional union of the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service and several trade unions in the field of education have been expressed their thanks to the Minister of Education for providing this opportunity for them.
