Civil Service of Sri Lanka is one of th oldest service in Sri Lanka and this service was established in the year of 1833 as Ceylon Civil Service by based on the British Civil service and the name was changed in the year of 1963 as Ceylon Administration Service and later in the year of 1972 the Name changed as Sri Lanka Administration Service. Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) is former known as Civil Service which is one of the most prestigious career and to enter in to this service applicant must be a graduate from recognized university which recognized by university grant commission and applicant must face open competitive examination to recruited Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) Class III. Those who enter in to Sri Lanka Administrative Service work with the central government as well as provincial councils.

Sri Lanka Administrative Service Exam consists five question papers and the areas as follows. (01) General Intelligence (02) Social, Economic, Political background and trends in Sri Lanka (03) Global Trends (04) Aptitude for Management (05) Creative, analytical and communication skills
Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) written exams are one of the highly competitive government exam and there are very few graduate passes this exams and the demand for the profession is very high.
